Want to get started right away? For a medium-sized triangular shawl of about 100 × 100 cm – for example, with Fischer Wolle Messina (needle size 3.5–5.0 mm, yardage 110 m per 50 g) – proceed as follows:
- Cast on 190 stitches.
- Knit row by row in your desired pattern.
- Bind off two stitches at the left edge in row 2.
- Bind off two stitches at the left edge in row 4 as well.
- From row 6, bind off according to this pattern in every second row: four times one stitch each, then once two stitches – repeat this sequence 30 times.
- After that, bind off two more times one stitch each.
- After about 100 cm (approx. 310 rows), bind off the remaining 4 stitches.
Different yarns, colors, and patterns will result in very different scarves.
