With the world record sock yarn from Wolly Hugs, you become part of an extraordinary knitting project with heart and social significance. This premium sock yarn combines proven quality with a strong common goal: knitting to help - and making history in the process.

The initiators of this special project are bookseller Miriam Cahannes, Veronika Hug, Susanne Oswald and Bernd Oswald. Together they want to beat the current world record of 35,500 self-knitted so cks on a washing line.

After the event, all the socks knitted will be donated to cold weather buses, aid buses and stationary aid centers in Germany as well as to corresponding institutions in Switzerland. The "Sock World Record" association was founded for this purpose. The aim is to raise public awareness of the issue of homelessness, create understanding and collectively donate at least 36,000 pairs of socks - for more warmth, dignity and humanity.

You can start knitting now. The official kick-off will take place at the Swiss Yarn Festival 2026. The participants will then knit together for a year before the actual world record attempt takes place at the Swiss Yarn Festival 2027.
